KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of nail biters on Sunday afternoon, taking the first game 2-1 and losing the second 9-8 in eight innings.

Game One

Andrea MacMichael opened the game for K with a double and then stole third before Izzy Kirck brought her home to put K up 1-0.

The Hornets doubled their lead in the second as Fiona Summers hit an RBI single to put K up 2-0.

In the fourth, Olivet threatened with two runners on base, but the Hornets turned a popped up bunt into a triple play to crush the rally.

Olivet made things interesting in the seventh with a home run, but a strikeout followed by a popout wrapped up the win for Kalamazoo.

Sammi Luzadre was excellent on the mound, striking out five and giving up just three hits and the one run in seven innings of work to earn the win.

Game Two

After a low scoring first game, both teams found their rhythm at the plate in the second game of the day. Olivet started things early with five runs on seven hits in the first inning.

The Hornets pulled back two runs in the second with Andrea MacMichael's two-run triple, but Olivet put up three more runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-2 lead.

Kalmazoo came roaring back in the fourth as they promptly loaded the bases and proceeded to rack up six runs to tie up the game.

The game remained tied into the eighth inning, but the Hornets left two runners on base in the top of the inning to open the door for Olivet's walk-off homerun.

Andrea MacMichael continued her success at the plate this season going 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Kalamazoo.

Keelin McManus took the loss for K on the mound.

The Hornets will host Albion on Wednesday, April 25th for an MIAA doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
