CLERMONT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team was defeated by St. Lawrence 4-3 in its first game before picking up its first win over Farmingdale State by a score of 5-3.

Game One

St. Lawrence got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kalamazoo responded with an Alaina Kirschman RBI single in the second to tie the game. Alyssa Heitkamp scored on a St. Lawrence error in the fourth to give Kalamazoo the lead.

After two St. Lawrence runs in the fifth, Nina Szalkiewicz delivered a game-tying base hit to drive in Ashley Schiffer. The Saints, however, answered with a game winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a Kalamazoo wild pitch.

Szalkiewicz, Schiffer, Hayleigh Alamo, and Keelin McManus each picked up two hits for the Hornets.

Game Two

The Hornets got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Hayleigh Alamo RBI base hit. Following Farmingdale State's two runs in the second, Kalamazoo put together four unanswered runs to make it a 5-2 game. A run for the Rams in the final inning secured a 5-3 win for Kalamazoo.

Alamo delivered a big game for Kalamazoo as the senior came through with two hits, including a home run, while driving in three runs.

Andrea MacMichael and Anna Majewski both also collected two hits and two runs. The catcher Majewski also drove in a run.
