Softball Splits Doubleheader at Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a doubleheader at Alma on Tuesday. Alma won the opener 7-2 while Kalamazoo won the finale 2-1.

Game 1

The host Scots got out to an early 5-0 lead after the first three innings. Kalamazoo responded with two of its own in the sixth, but surrendered two runs in the final inning to fall 7-2. 

Hayleigh Alamo connected on her third homerun of the season to bring home Kalamazoo's two runs. 

Andrea MacMichael had three hits for the Hornets including a triple and a double while scoring on Alamo's home run.

Keelin McManus added one hit and walked once. 

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored two runs in the top of the second on Sammi Luzadre's single and a groundout RBI by Andrea MacMichael.

Alma scored its only run in the top of the fourth while leaving two runners on base in the inning.

Keelin McManus earned the win scattering seven hits while striking out three and walking two.

Nina Szalkiewicz led the Hornets with two hits.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Trine in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m.
