NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College softball team was defeated by Saint Mary's today in a doubleheader. The Hornets fell 6-1 in the first game and 12-3 in the second in their final games of the regular season.
Game One
The Belles took game one by a 6-1 margin. The score was tied 1-1 after three innings before Saint Mary's came up with two runs in the bottom of the third, two in the fifth and one run in the sixth.
Kalamazoo had six hits while the home team had 13.
The Hornets scored one runner in the top of the third when Lucy Hart hit an RBI single to right center to score Nikki Gorder.
Sammi Luzadre had two hits in the game. Sam Moss, Nina Szalkiewicz and Gorder also hit singles.
Game Two
Saint Mary's won the second game 12-3 in five innings. Kalamazoo had a 3-0 lead from runs in the first three innings, but the Belles shut out the Hornets from scoring in the final two innings as they scored 12 runs in the fourth and fifth.
The Hornets tallied five hits in the second game of the day and Saint Mary's had 15.
Sammi Luzadre again led the Hornets with two hits and had an RBI. Brynna Garden had one hit and one RBI.
