Softball Ties Win Record With Game One Win at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College softball team tied the school record for wins (14) in a 6-4 win in the opener at Trine on Tuesday. The Thunder came back to win game two, 12-0.

Game One

Kalamazoo scored three in the first, but trailed 4-3 after three innings. Kalmazoo scored two more in the fourth to regain the lead before adding a run in the seventh. Trine had runners on second and third with no out in the bottom of the seventh before Kalamazoo closed the door for the win.

Kalamazoo had 12 hits in the game compared to 11 by Trine.

Bella Caza had three hits with a double and an RBI. Lizzy Rottenberk, Kelsey Diekman and Nikki Gorder each had two hits. Brynna Garden hit a two-run home run.

Jordan Cook earned the win in the circle with two strikeouts and no walks allowed.

Game Two

Trine scored runs in each of the first four innings en route to a 12-0 win. The Thunder had 11 hits while holding Kalamazoo to five.

Amy McNutt led the Hornets with two hits. Lucy Hart had a double.

The Hornets are back in action Thursday, April 21 at Albion.
