The Hornets lost 69-56 on the road to the Bluffton Beavers on Saturday afternoon. Bluffton moved to 4-1 overall while Kalamazoo falls back to .500 at 2-2.

The Hornets fell behind early in the contest largely due to a series of turnovers caused by highly debatable offensive foul calls. The officiating wasn't to the liking of the Hornets or their fans for the entire contest; with a large amount of whistles being blown in favor of the home team.

Grace Smith led the Hornets on offense; scoring 14 points while shooting 4/11 from the field. She also added five rebounds and a block. Kelsey Adamski added ten points and 2 assists and Perri Nicholson was all over the stat line with seven points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assist. Unfortunately for the Hornets Nicholson and Querubin Dubois were both forced to play limited minutes on account of early foul trouble.

Neither team was ever really able to find much of a rhythm in the game because of the insanely high number of foul calls. The teams combined for 48 personal fouls and 60 free throws.

The women will play their conference opener at Trine Wed, Dec. 3 where they'll try to get back above .500.
