KALAMAZOO, MI – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated the Adrian Bulldogs 82-51 on Wednesday night. The women move back above .500 with the win and are now 5-4 this season and 2-1 in MIAA conference play.

The Hornets jumped out big in the first half, opening up the game with an 11-0 run. Kalamazoo led 25-12 about 14 minutes into the game but then allowed the Bulldogs to get within striking distance with a 6-2 run that cut the Hornet lead to nine. The Hornets went to the locker room with a 33-22 lead at halftime.

The first half was paced with a balanced scoring attack by the Hornets, led by Emily Lindsay who had ten points at the break. Querubin Dubois and Emily Kozal combined for nine first half points off the bench and Hannah Maness chipped in seven first half points while going 4/4 from the free throw line.

The Hornets didn't shoot well in the first half, going 8/31 from the field. They were able to make up for that by hitting 4/9 from three point land and going 13/17 on their foul shots. Kalamazoo also helped itself by forcing Adrian into 13 first half turnovers.

The Hornets came out hot again at the beginning of the second half by going on an 18-8 run in the first six minutes. Kalamazoo completely turned around its first half shooting woes by hitting an incredible 21 of its 30 shots in the second half. The Hornets didn't let up on the defensive intensity in the second half as Adrian finished the game with 24 turnovers. The 51 points allowed by Kalamazoo was the second fewest of the season. The 82 Hornet points is the most Kalamazoo has scored since Nov. 16, when it put up 82 against Wooster.

It was a big night for seniors Emily Lindsay and Hannah Maness. Lindsay scored 17 and Maness added 11 while the two also combined for eight assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Kelsey Adamski had a fantastic night and really filled the stat sheet, scoring eight points while adding six assists and six rebounds. It wasn't only the upperclassman who shined for Kalamazoo tonight, as freshman Emily Kozal scored a career high ten points and knocked down a pair of threes. Grace Smith continued her Solid play with eight points and three assists while only missing one shot from the field. The Hornets matched their season-high in steals with 12 for the third time this season. Lindsay, Adamski, Smith, and Perri Nicholson had two steals each.

The Hornets will have a short rest before taking on Earlham at home Saturday, Dec. 20.
