Women's basketball downs Rochester

Emily Lindsay playing basketball.

Auburn Hills, MI – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated Rochester College 72-62 on Wednesday evening. The team is now 16-8 overall with one game remaining on the regular season schedule before the start of the MIAA tournament.

Emily Lindsay's shooting was the story of Kalamazoo's offense tonight. She was on fire from three-point territory and wound up sinking five of them before the game was over. Lindsay led the team in scoring with 23, but also had six rebounds and three steals. Lindsay did almost all of her damage in the second half, helping the Hornets extend their 33-30 halftime lead.

Grace Smith continued to prove she's one of the best rebounding guards in the MIAA by grabbing a team-high eleven rebounds. Perri Nicholson stuffed the stat sheet as usual with 10 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Kelsey Adamski was also all over the stat sheet with nine points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

The bench has come through clutch for the Hornets time and time again this season and tonight was no different. Claire Slaughter led the bench brigade with 10 points and five rebounds and Emily Kozal added seven points. The two combined to shoot 6-of-14 from the floor. Kozal was also the only player on the floor not named Lindsay to hit a three.

Kalamazoo will travel to Calvin on Saturday, Feb.21 to play its last regular season game before the MIAA tournament.
