KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Kalamazoo College took command early in Wednesday's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball match up with the visitors from St. Mary's College and as a result, the Hornets came away with a well-round, 71-60, victory.

Kalamazoo jumped out to an 11-2 lead within the first 2:30 of the first quarter as Kelsey Adamski scored nine of the Hornets' first 11 points.

Grace Smith played Adamski's first quarter role in the second quarter as Smith scored nine of the team's 17 points. Kalamazoo extended its lead to 38-28 at halftime.

St. Mary's cut the Kalamazoo lead to five at the 5:25 mark of the third quarter, but a 6-0 run shortly thereafter produced solely by Emily Kozal extended the Hornet lead back to 11.

The Hornets never led by less than nine in the final period and Kalamazoo did not trail St. Mary's at any point throughout the contest.
