Women's Basketball defeated by Olivet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 67-50 at home to Olivet College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo trailed by as many as eight points in the first period before evening the score (17-17) with 8:24 left in the second. The visiting Comets rebuilt the lead to eight (31-23) at halftime.

Olivet led by double digits early in the third, but a little run by Kalamazoo made it a six point game (37-31) with 7:31 remaining. The Comets closed out the third eight straight points and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Olivet shot 43.3 percent overall while limiting Kalamazoo to just 30.9 percent. The Comets outrebounded Kalamazoo 46-33, including 13-7 on the offensive end.

Emily Kozal led Kalamazoo with 22 points.

Mackenzie Norman scored nine points on 3-of-3 shooting in 11 minutes off the bench.

Claire Slaughter scored six points with five assists while Amanda Moss added five points. Kelsey Adamski scored four points with four assists and four rebounds while Grace Smith finished with two points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Kalamazoo returns to action at home against Adrian College this Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.
