WESTMINSTER, Penn. – A strong effort in the waning minutes of the Kalamazoo College women's basketball game Tuesday evening had the Hornets on the verge of making a comeback and walking away from Westminster College with a win, but the Titans pulled away down the stretch earning a 78-69 win over the Hornets.

With the Hornets trailing 35-27 at halftime, the Titans extended their lead to 23 points by the beginning of the fourth quarter, but Kalamazoo never backed down.

Beginning at the 9:09 mark of the final quarter and spanning over the next five minutes of play, the Hornets rattled off a 17-0 run to pull within six. That's as close as Kalamazoo would get, though, as Westminster countered with an 8-0 run of its own down the stretch.

Emily Kozal led the way offensively for the Hornets scoring 21 points. Danielle Simon and Libby Munoz each contributed 17 points to the Hornets' total.

Kalamazoo will look to bounce back on Thursday when the Hornets take on Thiel College at 5:30 p.m.
