Women's Basketball downed by No. 25 Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 78-48 to No. 25 Trine University on Wednesday. The visiting Thunder improved to 13-1 on the season while making their first appearance in the D3hoops.com Top 25 this week.

Kalamazoo got off to a hot start going up 9-2 early in the contest. Trine clawed back and evened the score at 15-15 to end the first quarter.

Trine took a lead in the second quarter and led by nine at halftime (36-27).

The Thunder outscored Kalamazoo 20-6 in the third quarter and led the rest of the way.

Trine shot 44.1 percent overall compared to 37.3 percent for Kalamazoo. The Thunder sank 22-of-30 free throws compared to 5-of-6 for the Hornets. Trine outrebounded Kalamazoo 45-27, including 17-5 on the offensive end.

Suzanne Miller led the Hornets with 15 points and three rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting.

Sidney Wall scored eight points with five rebounds while Danielle Simon scored seven points with five rebounds and four assists.

Libby Munoz scored six points off the bench while Emily Kozal scored five.

Kalamazoo returns to action this Saturday at Olivet at 3 p.m.
