OLIVET, Mich. – Powered by a program record-tying 12 three-pointers Saturday afternoon, the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team picked up a key, 68-61, road victory over the Olivet College Comets.

The game's first quarter belonged to Kalamazoo's Emily Kozal as she knocked down three of the team's 12 long-range buckets and helped keep the Hornets all-square with the Comets, 21-21, after 10 minutes.

Kozal handed her success from long-range over to Suzanne Miller in the second quarter as Miller drained four three-pointers allowing the Hornets to hold a 39-33 lead at the break.

It took just six seconds for Miller to open the second half with another three extending the Hornets' lead to nine. The Comets battled their way back into the game, though, taking a 49-48 lead with 3:28 to play in the third quarter and ultimately holding a lead with 5:10 to play in the fourth.

But the Hornets closed. Two key jumpers down the stretch from Libby Munoz after the Hornets had regained the lead put the game out of reach and secured Kalamazoo's second MIAA victory of the season.

Miller led all scorers with a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds. Kozal closely trailed Miller scoring 23 points while also bringing in seven boards.

Danielle Simon recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out seven assists.

Next up for the Hornets is a mid-week trip to Albion on Wednesday Jan. 18. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
