Women's Basketball earns conference win on the road

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team picked up its first conference win of the season with a 58-52 victory over Adrian on Wednesday night.

Both teams started slowly, but once the game got going the Hornets opened up a 10-3 advantage seven minutes into the first quarter. Emily Kozal scored eight of those ten points on her way to 14 points in the first half to lead K. 

Adrian narrowed the gap to three points midway through the second quarter, but the Hornets continued to shoot the ball well to rebuild their lead and head into halftime leading by a score of 28-21.

Emily Kozal and Isabelle Clark each hit three pointers to help K open the second half on a 15-5 run and take control of the game. The Hornets led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter and carried a double digit lead into the fourth quarter. Adrian narrowed the deficit to single digits in the fourth, but K closed out the game at the free throw line to earn a critical MIAA victory on the road.

Emily Kozal finished the game with a game-high 24 points in 36 minutes of action and Isabelle Clark scored a career-high 14 points to go along with six rebounds. Mya Gough scored an efficient six points and pulled in eight rebounds for K.

Ashley Morris scored 21 points for the Bulldogs who were held to 27.8 percent shooting from the floor and 21.7 percent from behind the arc.

Kalamazoo continues MIAA play as they travel to Albion on Saturday, Dec. 16th for a 3 p.m. contest.
