Women's Basketball falls to No. 8 Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 69-46 in its final game of the season Saturday on the road at Trine.

The Hornets struggled from the field in the first half, shooting only 12.5 percent while Trine hit 57.6 percent of its shots to go into halftime leading 42-13. A defensive switch by K helped the team slow Trine in the second half and the Hornets had more success from the field, led by 16 points in the half from Emily Kozal.

For the game Kalamazoo shot 25.4 percent from the floor while Trine shot 48.3 percent and the teams shot an identical 28.6 percent from three point range.

Senior Emily Kozal poured in a game-high 25 points, including perfect 5-5 shooting from the free throw line, to lead all scorers. With her performance, Kozal finishes her outstanding career in sixth place on the all time scoring list with 1,156 points. Danielle Simon finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and seven assists to finish the season with 116 assists, tied for most in one season, and she finishes her career with 297 assists, second most in program history. 

The Hornets finish the season 9-16 overall and 6-10 in the MIAA.
