RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team used a dominating second-half performance to cruise to a 67-59 victory Saturday afternoon over the host Dominican University Stars.

A back-and-forth first-half ended with Dominican holding a 29-28 lead, but Kaelyn Arlington's bucket 55 seconds into the third quarter gave the Hornets a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the afternoon. The remainder of the quarter saw K outscore the Stars 16-8, and enabled the Hornets (3-7) to take a comfortable 46-37 lead into the fourth.

Kaytlyn Tidey's three-pointer stretched that lead all the way to 18 points, 57-39, with 6:35 remaining in the game, but the hosts would not go quietly. A pair of Dominican free throws capped a 17-5 run and brought the Stars to within 62-56 with 44 seconds remaining. Kalamazoo's Sara English then converted a pair of free throws, and teammate Laila Vincent sank two more with 18 seconds remaining to ice the victory for the Hornets.

Vincent, Arlington and Jackie Brines each scored 13 points to pace Kalamazoo. Vincent and Arlington also dominated on the boards, with 15 and 12 rebounds respectively.

Christiana Hunt scored 10 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists, and two steals and Tidey notched eight points and a game-high five assists.

The Hornets crushed the home team on the glass, corralling 49 rebounds to Dominican's 28, and also had advantages in assists (13-10), blocks (4-2) and steals (6-4).

Next up for Kalamazoo is a home game vs. Grace Christian on Monday. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
