KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was unable to make enough shots Tuesday night, and as a result dropped a 56-55 decision to the visiting Grace Christian Tigers at Anderson Athletic Center.

The Hornets took a 40-31 lead into the fourth quarter, but shot 3-17 in the final stanza to give the Tigers life. Grace Christian took advantage and shot 9-18 in the quarter. It took the lead for good, 52-51, with 2:12 remaining.

The game went down to the buzzer with Kalamazoo down three points. Jackie Brines sank a bucket as time expired with no foul was called, denying the Hornets the opportunity to tie the game at the free throw line.

Kalamazoo shot 16-73 from the field for a frigid 22%. They did make six of their 20 three-point attempts, with Kaytlyn Tidey leading the way by sinking four of nine.

The Hornets dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Tigers, 58-44, but faced deficits in assists (10-8), steals (9-7) and blocks (9-6).

Tidey led three Hornets in double-figure scoring with 14 points. Laila Vincent tallied 10 points and added team-highs in rebounds (12), assists (five) and blocked shots (four). Kaelyn Arlington notched nine points and 12 rebounds.

The Hornets will head into the holiday break at 3-8 and will next play on Jan. 5 when they travel to St. Mary's (Ind.) for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
