KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated by the visiting Calvin University Knights Monday night, 89-47, at Anderson Athletic Center.

Kaytlyn Tidey's jump shot gave the Hornets a 4-3 lead just 1:29 into the game, but Calvin's 18-1 run that closed the first quarter gave the Knights a 21-5 lead heading into the second. The Hornets fought back to close the margin to 13, 30-17, on a Christiana Hunt jump shot with 4:36 left in the third, but that is as close as the home team would get the remainder of the evening.

Laila Vincent led the Hornets (3-17, 1-10 MIAA) with 14 points and three blocked shots, and her five rebounds tied for team honors with Kaelyn Arlington. Hunt scored 13 points and her three assists shared the team-high with Tidey.

Calvin made 35 of 68 shots from the field for 52%, while Kalamazoo made 18 of 56 for 32%. Calvin had advantages in rebounds (44-32), assists (22-8), and steals (12-5).

Next up for the Hornets is a home game on Wednesday against Trine University. The contest is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
