Women's Basketball Downed at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated at Calvin University Wednesday evening by a score of 81-32.

Calvin outscored the Hornets 17-4 in the first quarter and Kalamazoo was unable to get the margin to single digits the rest of the evening. The Knights took a 35-11 lead into the half.

Sara English made five of six shots from the field to lead Kalamazoo with 13 points. Haley Huckleberry chipped in eight points, three rebounds, two steals, and a block for the Hornets (4-20, 2-13 MIAA).  Kaelyn Arlington grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Calvin outshot Kalamazoo from the field, making 31 of its 82 shots (38%), while limiting the Hornets to 19% (10-53). The Knights had advantages in rebounds (62-36), assists (21-5), blocks (11-4), and steals (21-9).

Next up for the Hornets is the regular-season finale on Saturday, when they will host Hope for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
