DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 87-42 at Defiance College Monday night.
Kalamazoo held an early lead and was up 11-9 with 4:58 left in the first. Defiance regained the lead seconds later and led 23-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets extended the lead in the second quarter to take a 45-25 lead into halftime.
Defiance shot 50 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 23.3 percent. Defiance also held a 46-36 advantage in rebounds. Kalamazoo outrebounded Defiance 10-8 on the offensive end.
Sara English led the Hornets with 15 points while making 4-of-6 three-pointers and 3-of-4 free throws.
Kaelyn Arlington added 10 points with nine rebounds. Laila Vincent finished with nine points, six rebounds and three assists. Macy Ivins scored six points on a pair of three-pointers.
The Hornets take a break from competition before returning to action Dec. 30 at Grace Christian University.
