Kaelyn Arlington of the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 14).
The women's basketball team had two MIAA contests this past week, traveling to Trine (Feb. 8) and hosting Adrian (Feb. 11). Kalamazoo dropped the first game to the Thunder 82-45 before picking up its first win of the season over the Bulldogs 64-52.
Arlington averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in the two games this past week, leading the Hornets in both categories. She was instrumental in the win against Adrian by scoring 20 points and collecting nine rebounds, plus going 8-11 from the free throw line. Arlington also had 10 points and nine rebounds against Trine earlier in the week.
Starting in all 20 games played this season, Arlington is scoring 10.5 points per game while averaging 29.4 minutes per game. In addition, she leads the team with 8.6 rebounds per game and averages just under an assist and steal per game. In her first two seasons at Kalamazoo after transferring from KVCC, Arlington averages 9.4 points on 34.1% shooting. After 46 starts, she plays 27.4 minutes per game, grabs 8.1 rebounds, and has 10 double-doubles to date.
The Hornets will continue MIAA play with their final home game of the season for senior day against Calvin on Wednesday (Feb. 15), beginning at 7 p.m.
