Women's Basketball Falls at Adrian in MIAA Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost its MIAA opener 71-62 at Adrian College Wednesday night.

Kalamazoo trailed 9-2 early before going on a 9-0 run to take an 11-9 lead. Adrian regained the lead 16-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Kalamazoo held a 28-26 lead with 2:01 left in the second quarter before trailing 35-30 at halftime.

Adrian led by as many as 14 (54-40) before ending the third up 54-44.

Kalamazoo cut the deficit to four (62-58) with 3:56 left in regulation but could not get closer before falling 71-62.

Adrian shot 44.1 percent overall compared to 38.2 percent by Kalamazoo. The Hornets outrebounded the Bulldogs 36-28.

Ruby Hogan led Kalamazoo with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Sara English finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Wesaw added 11 points.

Kaelyn Arlington scored eight points with six rebounds. Jackie Brines finished with seven points, four rebounds and four assists.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Grace Christian University on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m.
