Sara English of the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Dec. 12).
The Hornets continued their season and MIAA play by traveling to Albion on Dec. 6 and hosting Olivet on Dec. 9. Unfortunately, Kalamazoo fell in both instances, with the scores being 85-42 against the Britons and 64-58 to the Comets.
English was the leading scorer for the Hornets, scoring 13 points per game on 53.3% (8-15) shooting, including 55.6% (5-9) from three and 71.4% (5-7) from the free throw line. She also totaled three rebounds, assists, and steals each in the two games. English had a career day against Olivet, scoring 23 points on seven field goals, including four 3-pointers and five free throws. Her previous career-high was 18 points, which she scored last season against Adrian. In seven games this season, English leads the team with 12.0 points per game while shooting 48.1% from the floor and 41.7% from three. She also averages 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while playing 34.0 minutes in seven starts.
Kalamazoo will continue its season with a non-conference road game at UNOH on Tuesday (Dec. 12) and a non-conference home game against Defiance on Saturday (Dec. 16).
