HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 109-42 at No. 8 Hope College on Wednesday.
Kalamazoo trailed 12-7 midway through the first quarter before a 15-6 run gave the Flying Dutch a 27-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hope took a 53-24 lead into halftime.
Hope shot 52 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 25.5 percent. Hope sank 9-of-19 three-pointers compared to 7-of-27 by Kalamazoo. Hope made 22-of-27 free throws compared to 7-of-12 by Kalamazoo. The Flying Dutch outrebounded the Hornets 50-29 overall, including 15-7 on the offensive end.
Sara English led the Hornets with 14 points and seven rebounds while making four three-pointers.
Ruby Hogan finished with nine points. Jordan Wesaw scored seven points with five rebounds. Kaelyn Arlington had five points with five rebounds.
Kalamazoo is back on the road Saturday when the Hornets head to Trine University.
