The 2023-24 Kalamazoo College women's basketball seniors have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season. These Most Valuable Professors were recognized before the home basketball game on Feb. 7.

The Hornets selected Dr. Charlene Boyer Lewis and Professor Katie Miller.

Sara English selected Dr. Charlene Boyer Lewis from the History Department as her MVP. English chose Boyer Lewis because she cares about her students, advocates for them, and genuinely wants to see them succeed. Dr. Charlene Boyer Lewis is why English is pursuing a history major because of how English explains it, "Dr. Boyer Lewis is the best. She loves what she does, and it shows in her teaching. She is just a great human."

The other MVP was Professor Katie Miller from the Physical Education Department, chosen by Kaelyn Arlington. Katie Miller is also the Interim Co-Athletic Director, Assistant AD of Compliance, the Senior Woman Administrator, and the Physical Education Chair for the athletic department. Arlington picked Miller because of her openness towards Arlington, willingness to lend an ear, and pushing Arlington to improve. After helping Arlington grow and develop throughout her three years at K as a head basketball coach and a professor, Arlington had this to say about Miller, "I am where I am today because of Professor Miller, and I am not sure where I would be without her. She was another mother figure to me, giving me the space to come to her for whatever I needed. Thank you, Milly, for everything!!!".

On behalf of the athletic department, THANK YOU to these Most Valuable Professors for positively influencing our student-athletes. Your work is greatly appreciated!
