Women's Lacrosse edged 13-12 at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was defeated 13-12 at Thiel College on Wednesday.

Despite a total of 25 goals in the game, there was never more than a two goal differential.

The host Tomcats scored the first goal, but the Hornets responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead just over 11 minutes into the contest.

Thiel evened things up at 3-3, but Kalamazoo was able to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.

After falling behind 8-7 early in the second half, Kalamazoo recovered to take a 10-8 lead with 18:53 remaining.

The score was tied 10-10, 11-11 and then 12-12 with 4:15 left on the clock before Thiel scored the game winner with just 2:04 remaining.

Anika Sproull led Kalamazoo with six goals and one assist on 13 shots with three ground balls.

Cecilia DiFranco scored three goals on five shots while Nicole Huff scored two goals on four shots.

Each team had 25 total shots with Thiel holding a slight 21-18 edge in shots on goal.

Each team had 13 draw controls with Kalamazoo holding a 15-12 advantage in ground balls.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Keuka College on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. in the Hornets first-ever home match at MacKenzie Field.
