Women's Lacrosse loses season finale 15-10 to Olivet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost its season finale 15-10 to Olivet on Sunday at MacKenzie field.

Kalamazoo held a 3-1 lead less than three minutes into the contest, but the visiting Comets scored the next four goals over a span of 21 minutes to take a 5-3 lead. A Kalamazoo goal made it 5-4, but Olivet scored three more to take an 8-4 lead into halftime.

Olivet put another run together early in the second half with four straight goals to take a 12-4 advantage. Kalamazoo eventually cut the deficit to six (14-8) with 8:50 remaining and made it a 15-10 game with 3:50 left, but Olivet ran out the clock in the end to preserve the win.

Kalamazoo outshot Olivet 37-26, but the Comets goalkeeper made an impressive 17 saves. Kalamazoo also held the advantage in ground balls (22-16) and draw controls (16-11).

Holly Cooperrider, Vethania Stavropoulos, Anika Sproull and Alivia DuQuet each scored twice for Kalamazoo. Cecilia DiFranco had two assists.

Cooperrider and DiFranco led the Hornets with five ground balls each while Cooperrider and Stavropoulos each had four draw controls.
