Women's Lacrosse eases past Olivet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team improved to 2-1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Saturday afternoon, and the Hornets did so in dominant fashion over the visitors from Olivet College.

Kalamazoo defeated the Comets, 15-1.

After the game started scoreless for the first seven and a half minutes, Kalamazoo found a rhythm. Daria Lewis broke the deadlock at the 22:34 mark which started a stretch of eight straight goals to end the first half.

Vethania Stavropoulos recorded three goals in the first half while Amanda Moss added two.

The Hornets picked up right where the left off when the second half began as they scored five goals in the first eight minutes of play.

Olivet picked up its first goal of the game with 19:09 remaining in regulations but the Hornets tacked on two more down the stretch.

Stavropoulos and Cecilia DiFranco each ended the afternoon with a game-high four goals apiece.

Moss ended with three goals and two assists, while Lewis added two goals and two assists.

Also scoring for the Hornets were Alivia DuQuet and Anna Dairaghi. Katie Johnson recorded six saves in goal for K.

The Hornets will look to continue climbing the MIAA standings this Wednesday when they travel to Albion for a 7 p.m. match.
