Women's Lacrosse falls just short at Albion

ALBION, Mich. – In a game featuring two of the top teams in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell just short to hosting Albion College.

The Britons defeated the Hornets, 9-7.

Despite going down 2-0 in the first six minutes of play, Kalamazoo had a strong answer.

Nicole Huff got K on the board at the 18:44 mark beginning a stretch of five straight goals for the Hornets to close out the first half.

Amanda Moss leveled the score at 2-2 and goals from Anna Dairaghi, Alivia DuQuet and Huff gave Kalamazoo a 5-2 advantage.

Albion began the second half on a 3-0 run of its own to even the score at 5-5 and the teams traded goals until the score was tied at 7-7.

The Hornets were held scoreless for the final 21:10 of the game while Albion added two in the final 13 minutes.

Dairaghi and Huff led the way for K with two goals apiece. DuQuet ended her day with a goal and two assists.

With the loss, Kalamazoo still stands in good position in the MIAA with a 2-2 record and the Hornets will shift their focus to Calvin College. The Knights are scheduled to visit MacKenzie Field on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
