Women's Lacrosse wins important road game at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – In a game the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team had to have, the Hornets came away with a 12-8 win on the road Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Alma College.

Kalamazoo defeated the Scots, 12-8.

The Hornets, now 3-3 in the MIAA, went down 2-0 early in the first half but goals from Amanda Moss and Alivia DuQuet leveled the score at the 16:57 mark.

Cecilia DiFranco added two goals for the Hornets in the first half but the Scots held a 5-4 lead at the half.

The second half was a different story for Kalamazoo. The Hornets went on a 6-1 run in the first 10:39 of the half and distanced themselves enough not allowing the Scots to recover.

Moss played a pivotal role for the Hornets in the game scoring a team-high four goals and also recording an assist.

DiFranco ended the day with three goals while DuQuet added two goals and an assist.

Vethania Stavropoulos and Nicole Huff both had a goal and an assist for K.

In goal, Katie Johnson came up with eight big saves for the Hornets while also picking up three ground balls.

The Hornets will head home for another important MIAA match up on Thursday, this time with St. Mary's. The Belles are currently one spot ahead of the Hornets in the conference standings with a 4-2 record.
