Women's Lacrosse wins big on Senior Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team wrapped up its home schedule in style on Saturday, beating the visitors from Trine 20-5.

The Hornets scored early and often in the contest, finding the back of the net six times before Trine scored its first goal. Kalamazoo scored on four free position shots during that stretch will goalkeeper Katie Johnson stopped a number of Trine's attempts to help the Hornets jump out to the 6-0 lead.

After Trine's first goal, Rachel Madar answered with three straight goals and then Caroline Mundell wrapped up a first half hat trick of her own to put the Hornets ahead 10-1 at the half.

Trine scored three times in the first seven minutes of the second period, but K would not let up as they closed the game scoring eight of the last nine goals of the contest.

Kalamazoo outshot Trine 37-22 and four Hornets recorded at least a hat trick.

Rachel Madar led K with six goals and eight draw controls. Caroline Mundell scored a career-high five goals, Amanda Moss four times, had two assists, and six draw controls, and Lily Baumann also scored three goals.

In her final game at MacKenzie Field, senior goalkeeper Katie Johnson was outstanding, stopping eight shots to lead K to the victory.

The Hornets will travel to Olivet on Thursday, April 26th for their next game which will begin at 7 p.m.
