Women's Lacrosse Drops Opener with Carthage

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener to Carthage by a final score of 14-12. 

The Hornets got out to a 7-1 lead in the first half before allowing five Carthage goals in the final six minutes of the first half to make it an 8-6 score at the break. 

Carthage came out of halftime connecting on the first three goals of the half to take its first lead of the game. Carthage ended up outscoring Kalamazoo 8-4 in the second half to secure the victory.

Kalamazoo out-shot Carthage 31-29 in the game, but the Lady Reds had an 18-8 advantage in the second half.

Caroline Mundell led the Hornets with five goals and one assist. 

Rachel Madar added four goals and two assists for Kalamazoo. 

Amanda Moss, Lilly Baumann, and Sam Jacobsen each had a goal. 

Hannah Wolfe led the way in ground balls with four. 

Kalamazoo returns to play on Wednesday, March 6 when it hosts Indiana Tech at 7 p.m.
