KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Rachel Madar of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was honored by the Athletic Leadership Council as the Hornet of the Week.
Madar, a sohpomore from DeWitt, Mich. (DeWitt HS), scored three goals in Kalamazoo's lone game last week against Indiana Tech. Madar also secured eight draw controls and collected six ground balls.
The midfielder's 17 goals on the season lead the Hornets and are sixth most in the MIAA. She also leads the MIAA in draw controls at 48 which is 18 more than the next highest player.
"Rachel was very active in the midfield," said Coach Jess Smith. "(She) was a major factor in successful transitions, and won a lot of possessions for the Hornets off of draws and ground balls in addition to scoring 3 goals under significant defensive pressure."
Madar and the Hornets return to play on Saturday, March 23 against Illinois Wesleyan at 1 p.m.
