KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College Athletic Leadership Council announced Tuesday that Rachel Madar of the women's lacrosse team was named Hornet of the Week.
Madar, a sophomore from DeWitt, Mich. (DeWitt HS), scored six goals in each of Kalamazoo's games this week to lead the Hornets to a 1-1 record including a victory over Trine. Her 53 goals this season are good for third in the MIAA.
The midfielder also collected 12 draw controls in the two contests. She is currently second in the MIAA in draw controls at 113. Her mark of 8.15 draw controls per game placed her 10th in NCAA III as of April 19.
A first team All-MIAA performer as a freshman, Madar is leading the Hornets in goals and points this season while starting all 14 games. This marks the fourth time she has earned recognition from the ALC.
The Hornets are scheduled to wrap up their regular season this week with home games against Olivet Thursday and Adrian Saturday.
