Women's Lacrosse Wins at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team defeated Augustana on Saturday evening by a final score of 17-7 to improve to 2-1 overall on the season.

After allowing Augustana to score the first goal of the game, the Hornets outscored the host Vikings 6-3 to finish the first half with a 6-4 lead. 

The two teams traded goals to begin the second half before Kalamazoo went on a 7-0 run to obtain a nine-goal lead. A pair of Augustana goals bookended three more Hornet goals at the end of the game to give Kalamazoo the commanding win. 

Kalamazoo outshot Augustana 45-21 throughout the game including a 21-9 advantage in the second half. The Hornets won 17 draw controls compared to the Vikings' nine. 

Rachel Madar led Kalamazoo on the offensive end as she tied her own school record with nine goals on 14 shots. The junior also won six draw controls. 

Rose Bogard added a pair of goals while tying the school record with five assists. 

Lilly Baumann and Leah Tardiff also scored twice while earning one assist each. 

Sam Jacobsen and Jordan Reichenbach scored one goal apiece. 

The Hornets return to play on Sunday, March 1 at Elmhurst. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EST.
