The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse All-MIAA Honoree graphic.

The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team had one student-athlete named to an All-MIAA team on Wednesday (May 3). Hannah Heeren was on the All-MIAA Second Team as a midfielder for the second straight season. The junior was also named the MIAA Rookie of the Year after her first season in 2021.

Kalamazoo finished the 2023 season with a record of 5-12 (1-6 MIAA). The Hornets collected non-conference wins over Muskingum, Illinois Tech, Birmingham Southern, and Concordia Chicago, with a conference win over Adrian.

Heeren was your prototypical two-way player for the Hornets, impacting the offensive and defensive ends. She finished in the top five of most statistical categories in the MIAA, including shots on goal (3rd), points (4th), draw controls (4th), ground balls (t-4th), shots (5th), and goals (t-5th). For Kalamazoo, Heeren had the most assists (20), points (75), ground balls (55), draw controls (95), caused turnovers (33), and shots on goal (98) in 17 games. She was also second on the team in shots (118), and then tied for second in goals (55) and free position goals (7). Her best game came against Concordia Wisconsin, where she put up season highs with six goals, eight points, and nine draw controls. After scoring 74 goals last season, Heeren became more of a distributor this season to Abbie Caza and Ella Spooner with a career-high in assists. She has filled up the stat sheet in her career, scoring 166 goals and collecting 36 assists for 202 points in 48 games. Heeren also has 213 draw controls, 156 ground balls, and 80 caused turnovers to her name. At the end of her junior season, Heeren sits in second for career goals, points, and draw controls all-time.
