The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was featured in the department's final edition of the summer's Top Moment Thursday from the 2022-23 season.
The Hornets fell behind early in the game, trailing 7-3 after the first quarter. Then, Kalamazoo flipped the script in the second by outscoring Birmingham Southern 5-1 and tying the game up heading into halftime. The offense for both teams exploded in the third as the Hornets and Panthers scored eight goals a piece to make the score 16-16 heading into the final stanza. After that offensive dominance, the defense stepped up in crunch time, as Kalamazoo allowed just two goals in the frame. The offense did just enough by scoring three times as Abbie Caza put away the eventual game-winner with 1:15 remaining on the clock. Caza scored six goals in the game to lead the team, with Ella Spooner scoring for times, then Hannah Heeren and Eden Schnurstein finding the back of the net three times each.
