Overtime goal lifts Women's Soccer to 2-1 win over DePauw

The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won the first game at new MacKenzie Field 2-1 in double overtime over DePauw University on Friday.

DePauw took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute. The Tigers held the lead until the 80th minute when Emily Gray evened the score with a goal from just outside the box.

Maya Smolcic dribbled into the box and scored the game-winner with just over seven minutes left in the second overtime.

Kalamazoo outshot DePauw 25-15 overall, including 11-8 on goal.

Meredith Miles made four saves in goal in the first half. Lucy Mailing made three saves in the second half and in overtime.

Kalamazoo returns to action with the MIAA opener at Hope on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
