KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won its MIAA and home opener 1-0 over Trine University at MacKenzie Field on Monday.

Jordan Meeth scored the game's only goal in the 16th minute of the first half (Sam Voss assist).

"That was Jordan's second game-winning goal in a row," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "It is always great to see a senior step up and lead the team."

Kalamazoo controlled the offensive tempo for the majority of the contest while outshooting Trine 24-1 overall, including 13-0 on goal.

"We certainly would like to convert a few more of the scoring opportunities," said Goyings. "Overall, though, I was pleased with our effort and the development of our younger players."

Elizabeth Clevenger led Kalamazoo's offensive attack with five shots overall and two on goal. Sydney Spring took four shots with three on goal while Sam Voss took three shots with one on goal.

"It was a good opening conference win where every game is important," said Goyings. "It was good to earn the shutout as well and overall was just a good team win.

Kalamazoo returns to action at MacKenzie Field on Thursday with a 7 p.m. contest against Saint Mary's. The Hornets close out the week on Saturday at Olivet at noon.
