ALBION - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won 4-2 at Albion in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play on Wednesday.

Sam Voss put the Hornets on the board early with a goal just 3:45 into the contest (Madeleine Chilcote assist). The Britons responded just over eight minutes later with a successful penalty kick to even the score.

Voss scored her second goal of the game on a header in the 28th minute (Jenna Sexton assist), and the Hornets took the 2-1 lead into halftime.

"Sam Voss was tremendous in the first half," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "Thanks to her hard work we had the lead at halftime."

Madison McBarnes gave the Hornets a cushion with a goal in the 62nd minute (Paige Sambor assist) while Madeleine Chilcote made it 4-1 in the 80th minute (79:23). Albion scored just 23 seconds later (79:46) to make it 4-2, the eventual final score.

"Our work rate improved in the second half as a team and we created some much better offensive chances," said Goyings. "Paige Sambor did a great job joining the attack and connecting with Madison McBarnes on the third goal which turned out to be the game winner."

Kalamazoo outshot Albion 14-5 overall, including 11-3 on goal.

Lucy Mailing made one save in goal for the Hornets.

"Winning on the road in the MIAA is not easy and I was glad to see the team was able to bounce back with a win after the loss last weekend," said Goyings.

Kalamazoo (4-2, 3-1 MIAA) returns home to face Adrian College on Saturday, Sept. 21 at noon.
