Hornets defeat Britons 4-1

Sydney Spring playing soccer

The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team beat Albion 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in the team's homecoming game. The Hornets have now won four games in a row and move to 11-3-1 overall and 8-3-1 in conference play.

Kalamazoo attacked the Britons from the get go. Freshman Madison Moote continued her stellar play by putting the Hornets on the board just six minutes into the game with an assist from Sydney Spring. Paige Sambor and Emma Tardiff would both also score before the first half was over and Kalamazoo headed into the locker room at halftime with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half head coach Bryan Goyings decided to give a lot of his starters a break and a lot of women saw more minutes than usual. The Hornets had 19 different players take the field today. In the second half Kalamazoo would score once more on a goal by Sydney Spring, to go along with her assist from the first half. Allie Brodsky assisted on Spring's goal.

Albion's offense was stifled for almost the entire game, and the Britons were only able to attempt two shots on goal. The Hornets gave up a goal in the 82nd minue, and ultimately won the game 4-1; a much different outcome than a few weeks ago when the teams met in Albion and tied 1-1.

The Hornets have won their last four games by a combined score of 8-1. The women will look to continue their dominating play Wednesday, Oct.22 as they'll take on Adrian at home.
