ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost 2-1 at Alma College on Monday.

Alma got on the board early with a goal in the 11th minute. The Scots went up 2-0 with another goal in the 27th minute.

Kalamazoo made it 2-1 when Suzanne Miller scored in th 33rd minute. Neither team scored again over the final 57 minutes.

Kalamazoo outshot Alma 18-12 overall, but Alma was able to put seven shots on goal compared to six by the Hornets.

Lucy Mailing made five saves in goal for the Hornets.

"Alma came out prepared and I thought we were a little slow to start," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "Two to zero was a tough deficit to comeback from."

"Elizabeth Clevenger and Madeleine Chilcote were very dangerous for us and created some strong scoring chances in the second half."

Kalamazoo had already secured the two seed for this week's MIAA Tournament. With Alma's win today, the Scots secured the three seed and will travel to Kalamazoo for a semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m.
