The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team continued its winning ways Monday afternoon, as the Hornets won their second straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest by defeating St. Mary's College, 2-0, on the road.

The Hornets struck twice in the first half and held off the Belle's for the rest of the game.

"With the quick turn around I was very proud of the effort by the team today," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said.

Madeleine Chilcote scored the first goal for K when she tapped one across the goal line after Christina Dandar served in a cross. The goal was Chilcote's second of the season.

"Christina really set up the first goal with a tremendous individual effort beating several opponents before playing it into the box for Chilcote to finish," Goyings said.

Eight minutes later, in the 31st minute of play, Madison Moote slotted the ball past the Belle's keeper from 15 yards out giving the Hornets a 2-0 lead. Moote's goal was her second of the season.

Goyings also noted Grace Smith's play in goal, particularly in the second half, which help preserved the clean sheet for Kalamazoo. Smith recorded eight saves and earned her second shutout of the year.

With the win, Kalamazoo improves to 2-1 in the MIAA and will face another conference rival this Thursday when it travels to Calvin College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
