Kalamazoo College's Sarah George was selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's women's soccer offensive player of the week on Monday.
A freshman from Royal Oak, Mich., George scored her first career goal against No. 24 Hope on Wednesday. Her goal in the top right corner of the net in the 31st minute put the Hornets up by a goal early in Kalamazoo's 2-1 victory. George ended the week by assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime after her free kick aided a score by teammate Christina Dandar.
"Sarah has been a key player in our attack and has been generating some great chances for our team the past couple of games," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "It is nice to see her rewarded for her contributions last week."
Kalamazoo (6-6-1, 6-3-1 MIAA) hosts Saint Mary's College on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
