The first place Kalamazoo College women's soccer team picked up two more wins this past week and for the second consecutive week it was recognized with an individual accolade, this time Christina Dandar taking home the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's defensive player of the week.

In the Hornets' first game of the week against Hope on the road, Dandar helped anchor the Hornets' backline in a tight 1-0 win. The clean sheet allowed Kalamazoo to move five points clear of the Dutch in the MIAA standings.

Dandar once again played an instrumental role in the team's second game of the week against Trine as the Hornets came away with a 1-0 shutout, their fifth consecutive shutout. She also recorded one shot going forward.

"Christina has been a model of consistency within the team this season," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "She is a fierce competitor that has excelled at both individual and group defending. Her contributions are a major reason for the team's strong defensive record so far this year."

This is Dandar's first player of the week recognition in her career at Kalamazoo. She's notably started every game for the Hornets since the beginning of the 2015 season.

Kalamazoo begins a short two-game road trip on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when the Hornets travel to St. Mary's for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
