KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by nonconference opponent Thomas More on Thursday evening.

Despite being outshot 10-5 on the game, Thomas More scored the game's only goal in the 41st minute when Mariah Gilbert finished off a low cross from Ashley Maples in the Kalamazoo penalty area. The Hornets continued to push numbers forward throughout the second half looking for an equalizer and came agonizingly close in the final minutes when a shot from Libby Munoz forced a diving save from Kylie Anderson in the Thomas More goal to preserve the shutout for the Saints. Munoz led the Hornets with four shots, three of which were on goal.

Maddie Odom made one save in goal for K in the loss.

The Hornets will return to conference play on Tuesday when they take on Calvin at 5 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader at MacKenzie Field.
