HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Hope College in the team's first MIAA contest of the season on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets were outshot 18-12 on the match but held a 5-4 edge in shots on net.

Rosella LoChirco and Josie Sibley each took three shots while LoChirco got two of her shots on goal.

Hannah Wolfe saved each of the four attempts that were on goal by Hope.

"I thought today's game was our most complete match, start to finish, so far this season," said Coach Bryan Goyings. "It is a real positive to gain a point on the road against the defending league champion. We created several superb goal-scoring opportunities; it was definitely disappointing not to be able to find a goal. The midfield play of Julie Zabik, Emme DeConinck, and Rosella LoChirco was a strength of the group today."

Kalamazoo will have a week off before hosting Calvin on Saturday for its home opener at 5 p.m.
