KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team defeated Calvin University in its home opener on Saturday evening by a final score of 2-0.
A clear shot attempt for Kalamazoo just eight seconds into the match set the tone as the Hornets took control by out-shooting the Knights 16-4 in the game.
Catie Stamper was the first to find the back of the net for the Hornets as she connected off Emme DeConinck's saved header attempt to give Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.
The Hornets scored again in the 56th minute as Libby Munoz tallied her second goal of the season.
Kalamazoo's defense held Calvin to just four shot attempts. The Hornets also tallied 13 corner kicks to Calvin's zero.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 as it heads to Trine for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
