KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team dropped its match against Hope on Monday night by a 1-0 margin.

The lone goal of the match was scored by the Flying Dutch in the 33rd minute off a penalty kick to the back of the net by Hope's Natalie Hammer.

Hope had five shots to Kalamazoo's four in the first half. The Hornets had a stronger defensive showing in the second half of play with four goals attempted and only one Hope shot attempt allowed.

Kalamazoo outshot Hope by a 9-7 margin, while the opposing team held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Hannah Wolfe recorded a season-high five saves for Kalamazoo in the net, playing all 90 minutes.

"Hope is a strong opponent and was well prepared," Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "They made the most of their opportunity tonight. We struggled to find a rhythm but had a couple of moments and were unfortunately unable to convert. We have another tough opponent and a lot to play for on Thursday against Calvin. It should be a fantastic MIAA soccer game."

The Hornets return to action on Thursday, April 15 when they host Calvin for a 4 p.m. game.
