KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior Night at MacKenzie Field was special Wednesday night, as the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team defeated visiting Trine University, 3-1.

Trine did its best to rain on the Hornets parade when they scored in the 24th minute, but Sophia Timm-Blow scored in succession in the 37th and 40th minutes to give the Hornets (10-3-0, 4-2-0) the lead.

"Sophia was relentless and she had two superb finishes," said K Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "As a team, it was a tremendous response to score two goals before halftime after going down 1-0."

Hornet keeper Madison Barch stopped a Thunder attacker from point-blank range with a kick-save in the 74th minute to maintain the one-goal advantage. Two minutes later Destiny Garcia dropped a beautiful lead pass to senior Kai Ketola, who then gathered the ball in stride and kicked it past a sprawling Trine keeper to provide the final margin.

"Trine is an excellent team. It was great to get the seniors a win tonight and put us in a position to play for a lot these next two games," Goyings said.

Timm-Blow's five shots paced Kalamazoo. Garcia had two assists and Barch six saves to lead the Hornets.

Next up for K is a Saturday road trip to Holland, where the Hornets will face host Hope College at 12 p.m.
